Mr Doodle aka Sam Cox a Kent artist from Tenterden, has purchased a holiday ‘get away from it all’ home here at Dungeness. Locals were getting hot under the collar thinking he would turn the place into a doodle covered mini replica of his 6 bed Georgian house, which, having purchased in 2019, he had stripped bare and completely covered, externally and internally with doodles. He will, however, be rebuilding the existing railway carriage centred structure with a more modernistic Guy Hollaway creation complete with modern materials – and not a doodle in sight!

In 2020 Sam became the fifth most successful under 40 year old artist at auction. During that year he sold a canvas in a Tokyo auction for approaching $1 million and subsequently a further 158 works totalling a reported $4.7 million. Certainly enough to afford a shack on Dungeness!!
Sam had studied ‘Illustration’ at the University of the West of England in Bristol although he had been ‘doodling’ from childhood. He married his wife Alana in 2021 and for the first time in his life there was colour – hence the portrait of the two of them below.

Despite his whacky artwork Sam is a very pleasant unassuming sane young(ish) man with one ambition – to cover the world and contents in Doodles!!
